Jetstar resumes flying between Australia and Japan

Australia-based Jetstar Airways has returned to Japan following a two-year absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Read More » The LCC has commenced nonstop 787-8 flights between Cairns and Tokyo Narita and will operate Cairns-Osaka Kansai from July 26. The Qantas Group subsidiary said Japanese citizens can travel between Australia and Japan, but there are some restrictions for tourists from Australia entering Japan. “Australia has always been a popular destination for Japanese travellers. We are excited to reconnect the two countries, providing a significant tourism boost to the local Cairns community and Queensland more broadly,” Jetstar Group CEO, Gareth Evans, said. “Japan also has always been a popular destination for Australians. We look forward to an announcement from the Japanese Government about the easing of international restrictions to allow two-way travel between the two countries.” Jetstar is the first Australian carrier to resume flights to Japan. All Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines operate to Australia.
