Qantas Group CEO apologises for airline's operational failings

Qantas Group CEO, Alan Joyce, has apologised to Qantas Airways’ 13 million frequent flyer members for recent operational failings including scores of cancelled flights, lost luggage and poor punctuality. Read More » “There are good reasons why, but when it comes to what you expect from Qantas, it is not good enough,” Joyce said in a video message emailed to all Qantas frequent flyer members. “On behalf of the national carrier, I want to apologise and assure you we are working hard to get back to our best.” In a bid to redeem itself with its frequent flyers, the oneworld alliance member is providing Australian and New Zealand-based members with A$50 (US$34) discount vouchers. Frequent flyers also will have their status extended and platinum and platinum one members will receive gifts of points. Qantas said it is making more seats available for points redemptions. “As well as saying sorry, we also want to say thank you,” Joyce said.
