Australia’s international passengers increase 24.8% month-on-month

There were 1.6 million air travellers into and out of Australia in June, up 24.8% from the country’s 1.3 international air passengers in May, Australia's Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics (BITRE) reports. Capacity was 53.1% lower, at 1.98 million seats. “International passenger traffic continues to be severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic,” the BITRE report said. Qantas Group was Australia's largest carrier by international passengers for the month, with 17.8% of the market, followed by Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Jetstar at 15.6% and 11.6%, respectively. Qantas Group subsidiary, Jetstar, was one of two LCCs in the top 10 along with SIA’s Scoot.
