Air New Zealand (Air NZ) has unveiled a unique Star Alliance livery for one of its new A321neos, featuring the alliance’s logo on an all-black fuselage. Read More » Scheduled for delivery to Auckland in November, the aircraft will fly on Air NZ domestic routes. The airline’s chief transformation and alliances officer, Mike Williams, said the A321neo was the world’s first all-black Star Alliance airplane. “The Star Alliance livery is typically white with a black tail fin. We asked if we could do something a little different and inverse the colours in celebration of the importance of black to Air New Zealand and New Zealand,” Williams explained. “Black is an iconic Kiwi colour. From sports jerseys to gumboots, black is embedded in New Zealand’s national identity and worn with pride. So it is fantastic to welcome this aircraft, with its special black livery, into our fleet.” Star Alliance vice president for alliance development and communications, Siu Ling Fock, said the alliance was “happy to agree” to the all-black design.
