Air India leases 30 aircraft

The Airbus narrow-bodies will be accepted by the carrier during 2023 and fly domestic and international routes. “After a long time without significant growth, Air India is delighted to resume expanding its fleet and global footprint,” Air India CEO, Campbell Wilson, said. In addition to the 30 leased aircraft, the Star Alliance member is bringing 16 aircraft out of storage. It is the first major fleet expansion at the former flag carrier since it was acquired by Tata Sons, the airline said. “These new aircraft, together with existing aircraft being returned to service, address an immediate need for more capacity and connectivity and mark a strong step forward,” Wilson said.
