Indian carrier chooses name and livery

Singapore Airlines and its joint venture partner, the Tata Group, unveiled the name and livery of their Indian new airline – Vistara - in Mumbai last month, with the airline’s chairman declaring it “was a momentous day” for Indian aviation. Vistara, said the company, is derived from the Sanskrit word vistaar, which translates to limitless space. Read More » The eight pointed star logo is taken from a mathematical form that represents the universe. The full service carrier will launch flights in October with A320 aircraft, with plans to increase its fleet to 20 of the narrow bodies by 2019. Vistara said it will draw on the high SIA standards of service for its operations and has the goal of “redefining the way we travel in India”.
