India’s regulator maintains 50% cap on SpiceJet network

India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is maintaining its 50% cap on flights SpiceJet can operate, an order from the regulator cited by media has revealed. The DGCA issued the ruling following several incidents at SpiceJet that the regulator said reflected poor internal safety oversight and inadequate maintenance actions that degraded safety margins. Safety incidents have declined, the DGCA said, but it had decided to continue with the 50% restriction from an abundance of caution. SpiceJet told local media it was working on the issues with the close guidance of the DGCA.
