Mainland regulator issues type certificate for China’s C919 passenger aircraft

Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China's (COMAC) C919 narrow-body passenger aircraft has received its type certificate from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). Read More » The official presentation, a landmark development in Mainland commercial aviation, was held late last week at Beijing Capital Airport in the presence of China’s president, Xi Jinping, the CAAC said on its website. The C919, powered by CFM LEAP-1C engines, offers a range to 3,000nm and a two-class configuration of 158 seats. COMAC thanked its global suppliers, partners and customers for their support in developing the aircraft, first announced in 2008. “We have worked together for a long time, hand in hand, to succeed in developing the C919,” COMAC said. “The vast sky offers a great stage for the future.” C919’s first commercial airline customer is scheduled to receive the single-aisle type by year-end, local media reports.
