Air China hit by currency decline

China’s flag carrier, Air China, said foreign exchange losses produced a 58% decline in interim profit, to US$76.94 million, despite an increase in revenue of 7%. Read More » The Chinese currency has declined by 2.5% this year, at a time when Air China has 70% of its debt in US dollars. The airline carried 40.14 million passengers for the six months, a 7.2% expansion over the same period last year, and said it expected demand to continue to rise in the second half of 2014.
