Virgin Atlantic axes London-Hong Kong

U.K.-based Virgin Atlantic has cancelled its planned resumption of London Heathrow-Hong Kong flights and will permanently withdraw from the Special Administrative Region (SAR). Read More » Significant operational complexities due to the closure of Russian airspace had contributed to the commercial decision to abandon the route, the airline said. The Sir Richard Branson-founded carrier, which began flying to the Hong Kong SAR in 1994, will offer impacted passengers options of a refund, a voucher or rebooking on an alternative Virgin Atlantic flight. “We are sorry for the disappointment caused to our loyal customers on this route,” the airline said. Previously, the carrier had announced London-Heathrow-Hong Kong would restart next March.
