Australia’s July domestic passenger growth hits record high

Read More » The July figure was more than 3.5 times higher than the 1.4 million domestic passengers airlines in Australia transported in the same month in 2021, latest figures from Australia's Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics (BITRE) show. “The domestic aviation industry continued to recover in July 2022,” BITRE said. Passenger load factor for the 31 days was 85.8%, understood to be the highest monthly figure since records began in 1984. The results also eclipsed the previous best load factor performance of 84.5% in October 2019 and October 2007. Compared with pre-COVID-19 levels, the July passenger numbers were 88.3% of the 5.5 million domestic passengers flown in July three years ago.
