Thai Airways International (THAI) has reported a second quarter loss of 7.7 billion baht (US$241 million), compared with losses of 8.4 billion baht a year ago. Read More » Tourists to Thailand had declined by 22.6% year on year, THAI said, with regional visitor numbers particularly hard hit since prolonged political protests disrupted parts of Bangkok from last October. Intense competition from the region’s vibrant budget carrier market had added to its bottom line woes, THAI said. Passenger numbers declined 17.3%, to 4.23 million for the three months, with load factor declining by seven points, to 63.5%.
