India fast rebuilding to pre-pandemic domestic passenger capacity

India’s airlines flew 10.4 million travellers on domestic routes in September, up 2.4% from the 10.1 million in-country passengers they carried in August. Read More » Air traffic was 46.5% higher than the 7.1 million domestic passengers transported by India airlines in September 2021, figures from the country’s Directorate General for Civil Aviation show. Continuing its winning streak, LCC IndiGo was the leading domestic airline for the month with 6 million passengers transported or 57.7% of the domestic market. Vistara claimed second place with 996,000 passengers flown, or 9.6% market share. Air India was third with 949,000 passengers (9.2% market share). In pre-COVID September 2019, the country’s airlines carried 11.5 million domestic passengers.
