Malaysia Airlines to boost Japan schedule

Malaysia Airlines will add flights between Kuala Lumpur and Japan from November 1 “in anticipation of a surge in travel demand” now the country has reopened its international border. Read More » From the start of next month, the airline will fly nonstop Kuala Lumpur-Tokyo Haneda three times a week and daily Kuala Lumpur-Tokyo Narita. The oneworld carrier’s nonstop Kuala Lumpur - Osaka Kansai service also will increase to five a week. “We are encouraged by the healthy uptick in forward bookings to Haneda after the successful launch of our twice weekly service in August this year,” Malaysia Airlines group CEO, Captain Izham Ismail, said. “We hope our additional Japanese routes, namely Haneda, Narita and Osaka, will rebuild traffic between the two nations quickly, spur economic growth and help business and trade.” The routes will be flown as part of the airline’s partnership with fellow oneworld alliance member, Japan Airlines.

In related news, Malaysia Aviation Group carriers, Malaysia Airlines, Firefly and MASwings, have added 26 flights and up gauged 16 services to A330s to support the movement of Malaysian citizens ahead of the country's general elections in November.
