Qantas Group disappointed by delay in approving Alliance Aviation takeover

Read More » The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) said it now expected to announce its decision on March 20, 2023. The previous provisional date for its ruling was December 1, this year. Qantas, which owns 19.9% of Alliance, said the ACCC's new timeline meant it would be 10 months since Qantas filed its application for informal merger clearance. “This will make it one of the longest processes for informal clearance in recent times,” the airline company said. “Qantas is a firm believer in regulation and due process and has cooperated fully with information requests from the ACCC, but also it believes such regulation needs to be timely and efficient to maintain confidence in the process.”
