AirAsia will resume recruitment of junior pilots after a two-year pause prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The LCC airline group expects to hire about 180 second officers in 2023. Second officers undergo a ground training and type rating course for six months before being checked out as first officers.
Airbus said Lufthansa Group will be the launch customer for its virtual procedure trainer (VPT), a software product that provides virtual cockpit and training for Airbus standard operating procedures.
HAECO and GE have signed a branded services agreement for HAECO Engine Services in Xiamen. The company will undertake original equipment manufacturer standard MRO for the CF34-10A engine that powers the ARJ21. Under the GE branded services agreement, HAECO will commence providing the service in 2024.
The International Air Transport Association has expanded its environmental assessment and certification (IEvnA) program to airports and ground service providers (GSP). The airline lobby group said Edmonton Airport will be the first participant in its IEvnA for Airports and GSPs.
Travelport has joined the sustainable aviation coalition, Travalyst, and will add features on its Travelport+ platform to assist travel management companies sell eco-friendly offers and report on sustainability.
