Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) director general, Subhas Menon, has forecast 2023 air travel across the region will be positive, notwithstanding significant downside risks. Read More » “The business environment for airlines is challenging and geo-political tensions could undermine recovery,” he said. “Despite the softening of the global economic outlook, Asia-Pacific airlines are well placed for traffic volumes to move closer to pre-pandemic levels if demand stays strong.” Menon said margins remained under pressure, but the region’s airline market is expected to reach 75% of pre-COVID-19 levels by year-end. Leaders of the AAPA's 14 member airlines are in Bangkok for the association’s first in-person Assembly of Presidents since 2018. Hosted by Thai Airways International, it concludes today.
