Skymark selects 737 MAX for fleet renewal

Japan’s Skymark Airlines has chosen the 737 MAX for its new narrow-body fleet and for growth. Read More » The airline has signed leases for six 737 MAX 8s with deliveries to commence in the 2025 fiscal year. The airline and Boeing also are in talks about the purchase of 737 MAX 8s and 737 MAX 10s. Formal contract discussions are likely to lead to four firm orders and two options with deliveries from 2026, Skymark said. Based at Tokyo Haneda, the airline operates an all-Boeing fleet of 29 737-800s. “As Skymark Airlines looks to sustainably grow its fleet, the 737 MAX family offers market leading efficiency and environmental performance,” Boeing senior vice president of commercial sales and marketing, Ihssane Mounir, said. “With commonality and enhanced capabilities, the 737-8 and 737-10 will enable Skymark Airlines to optimize its fleet across all operations.”

In other Boeing news, the air framer and Azerbaijan’s cargo operator, Silk Way Airlines, have finalised an order for two 777-8F freighters with options for another two of the type.
