Air India to join Asia-Pacific airline association

The Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) has bolstered its membership with the addition of Air India. Read More » The Star Alliance member’s announcement it will join the airline lobby group increases AAPA member carriers to 14. “It is an honour for the AAPA to welcome Air India into our ranks as the first Indian airline to join the association,” AAPA director-general, Subhas Menon, said. “Air India operated its first flight in 1932 in India, a civil aviation market now one of the largest in the world. The airline will add considerable weight to the international aviation discourse undertaken by the AAPA on behalf of Asia-Pacific airlines.” In late 2021, AAPA airline members stood at 13 after Korean Air resigned from the Kuala Lumpur-based association.
