Boeing said the global air freight market will require 2,795 new freighters - both conversions and production aircraft – in the next 20 years to meet demand for cargo services. Read More » Boeing’s biennial World Air Cargo Forecast for 2022-2041 said customers will need 1,425 aircraft for aircraft replacement and 1,370 for growth. The global freighter fleet is predicted to increase from 2,240 in 2021 to 3,610 by 2041. “While the air cargo market is returning to a more normal pace after experiencing historic demand in the last two years, structural factors including express network growth, evolving supply chain strategies and new cargo market entrants are driving sustained freighter demand,” Boeing vice president commercial marketing, Darren Hulst, said. “In the global transportation network, air freighters will continue to be a critical enabler to move high value goods in increased volume across expanding markets.” The Asia-Pacific is expected to take 38% of all freighter deliveries from now to 2041, the forecast said.
