ALAFCO shareholders to vote on proposed Macquarie AirFinance deal

Kuwait-based lessor, Alafco, said shareholders will be asked to vote on the proposed sale of 53 aircraft to Macquarie AirFinance in a transaction valued at US$2.2 billion. Read More » The deal will include the transfer of an order for 20 737 MAX 8 from Alafco to Macquarie AirFinance, the company said in a regulatory filing to the Boursa Kuwait stock exchange. Alafco’s board reviewed the proposed deal when directors met on November 29, the lessor said. “The transaction is expected to complete within 12 months of signing and only after obtaining approvals from regulatory authorities and the company's general assembly,” Alafco said. The Alafco website shows the company has 79 aircraft in its fleet: A320 family aircraft, A350-900s, 737-800s and 777-300ERs. It also has ordered 68 aircraft - 48 A320neo family aircraft and the previously mentioned 20 737 MAX 8s.
