Thai AirAsia X lands in Australia

Thai AirAsia X (TAAX) touched down in Australia for the first time late last week with two of its flights landing within minutes of each other. Read More » The inaugural XJ390 from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi arrived in Melbourne about 1400 local time on December 2. TAAX’s inaugural flight to Sydney, XJ382, landed 15 minutes later on the same day. The Melbourne and Sydney services were operated by A330-300 HS-XTE and HS-XTH, respectively. TAAX has scheduled four flights a week from Suvarnabhumi to Sydney and three weekly to Melbourne. TAAX CEO, Tassapon Bijleveld, said Australians' love of Thailand and travelling augured well for the LCC's routes into the country. “Visitors to Bangkok can experience dynamic shopping, rich art, culture and its renowned cuisine and nightlife at great value on our comfortable and affordable wide-body aircraft,” Tassapon said. “At the same time, Thailand is a regional hub where AirAsia offers flights to destinations Australians love to visit, notably Chiang Mai, Phuket and Krabi, and more than 100 other points across Asia.”
