China Eastern Airlines forecasts widened full-year losses

China Eastern Airlines (CEA) expects to post a net loss of 36 billion yuan (US$5.3 billion) to 39 billion yuan for calendar 2022. Read More » Based on preliminary estimates, the airline said the result compared with a 12.2 billion yuan net loss in calendar 2021. CEA has informed the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong it was “confronted with arduous challenges from the impact of COVID-19” in 2022 and faced cost pressures from high oil prices and the depreciation of the Mainland’s currency against the U.S. dollar.
