Japan Airlines reports US$127 million net profit for nine months to year-end

JAL Group, the parent company of Japan Airlines (JAL), has booked a net profit of 16.3 billion yen (US$127 million) for the nine months to December 31 last year, a return to the black from a net loss of 128.3 billion yen in the matching period in 2021. Read More » Revenue more than doubled to 1.1 trillion yen, JAL said in a regulatory filing. Passenger demand was steadily recovering, JAL said, “as a result of the growing trend towards balancing the prevention of the COVID-19 pandemic and socioeconomic activities”. JAL added it had lowered the earnings forecast for the full year it issued in last November “to reflect the recent trend in air transport demand as of today”, with revenue predicted to be reduced 46 billion yen, to 1.4 trillion yen. The flag carrier also cut its net profit guidance for the fiscal 12 months by 20 billion yen to 25 billion yen.
