Conflicting reports emerge about caps on fare discounts at Mainland carriers

There have been varying media reports this week about Beijing’s request to its state-owned airlines to cap discounts on selected domestic routes at 60% to minimise losses. Read More » An initial report said the order was issued by China's State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, with the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) to ensure compliance. However, later reports quoted CAAC sources that said no such request had been made and that Mainland airlines are forecast to post hefty full year losses for 2022.
