Netherlands says no new prosecutions for the fatal shooting down of MH17

The Netherlands Public Prosecution Service has announced there will be no additional prosecutions in relation to the shooting down of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 that took the lives of 298 passengers and crew. The MH17 Joint Investigation Team found there were “strong indications” the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, approved the supply of the Buk TELAR missile, used to bring down the 777-200ER over Ukraine on July 17, 2014, to the so-called Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). Ukraine prosecutor general, Andriy Kostin, wrote on Twitter he will “seek to employ all existing international legal mechanisms” to bring the Russian president to justice.
