But we are largely back in the swing of things and are completely focused on customer recovery,” Geraghty said. “To have the airline operating largely as normal today is no small feat. We had to divert nine services to other ports last night, like Christchurch and Nadi, rework our schedule to allow for the planes and crew we had out of place, bring a large proportion of turboprops from storage and rebook and look after those who have been disrupted.” The Star Alliance member cancelled 821 flights after Cyclone Gabrielle struck New Zealand’s north island late last week, impacting 49,000 customers.
