Airlines mark International Women's Day

Malaysia Airlines and Virgin Australia (VA) are among scores of airlines celebrating International Women's Day. Read More » VA flight VA313 from Melbourne to Brisbane earlier today had an all-female workforce of refuellers, engineers, air traffic controllers and pilots and cabin crew servicing and flying the aircraft from the airline, Airservices Australia and Brisbane and Melbourne Tullamarine airports. Media reports said the VA flight was an Australian first. Similarly, Malaysia Airlines flight MH2520 from Kuala Lumpur to Kuching was operated earlier this week with an all-female check in staff, flight crew and ground crew. Malaysia Aviation Group chief sustainability officer, Philip See, said the company was “committed to championing and empowering women to play an active role in achieving their personal career and business goals by cultivating a culture that celebrates inclusivity, diversity and equality in gender, race, religion and age”.
