Japan Airlines to farewell 777-200ER with trans-Pacific charter flight for aircraft aficionados

Japan Airlines (JAL) said the retirement ferry flight of a decommissioned 777-200ER, registration JA701J, from Tokyo Haneda to California will operate as a charter service, giving enthusiasts the opportunity to farewell the aircraft after its 20 years of service with the carrier. Read More » Passengers on the charter flight, scheduled for May 16, will receive special tours of the Boeing plane, experience a low pass over the Victorville, California airport where aircraft are sent for storage or retirement and other social activities in Los Angeles. The first round of online applications for the flight will close on March 26. JAL launched the 777-200ER into service in August 2002. JA701J will retire from commercial flying at the end of this month.
