Bureau of Immigration figures show 32,404 Filipinos were deferred departure in 2023, of which 472 were victims of human trafficking or illegal recruitment. Another 873 individuals presented fraudulent documents, with at least 10 intending travellers found to be under age or minors attempting to depart the Philippines for work abroad. “We are one with the government in making sure Filipinos do not fall victim to human trafficking and illegal recruitment,” Dailisan said.
