Japan Airlines (JAL) has signed a firm order for 21 737 MAX 8s with deliveries from 2026. Read More » The oneworld alliance member, a 737-800 operator, flies 57 of the type on its domestic and international networks. “We are delighted to select the 737 MAX 8, a member of the latest 737 MAX family, to replace the 737-800s that make up the largest proportion of the JAL Group's fleet at present,” JAL president, Yuji Akasaka, said. “We look forward to carrying our passengers in the utmost safety and comfort and moving closer to our 2050 carbon neutral goals thanks to these super-efficient aircraft, operational innovations and new fuel-saving technologies.” Boeing said the 737 MAX 8s will reduce both fuel use and carbon emissions by 15% compared with the aircraft they will replace.
