Air China losses doubled to US$5.6 billion in fiscal 2022

Air China has booked a net loss of 38.6 billion yuan (US$5.6 billion) for the 12 months to December 31 against a net loss of 16.6 billion yuan in calendar 2021. Operating expenses increased 9.9%, to 22.8 billion yuan, for the reported period. “In 2023, China’s civil aviation industry will embrace a turning point for recovery,” Air China said. “Accordingly, business travel and holiday tours will continue to be growth drivers for the aviation industry. Air travel demand will become increasingly diverse, customised and popular.”
