Japan Airlines to reduce fuel surcharges on international routes

Japan Airlines (JAL) has applied to the country's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) to cut fuel surcharges for international passenger tickets sold in Japan. Read More » The lower surcharges will apply to tickets purchased from June 1 to July 31 this year. The oneworld alliance member's fuel surcharges for the two months will start at 3,500 yen (US$26) for Japan to Korea and Far East Russia, down 14.6% from 7,700 yen in April-May. The highest fuel surcharges will apply on routes to Europe, the Middle East, North America and Oceania at 33,400 yen, a reduction of 9.2% from 36,800 yen previously. “JAL sets fuel surcharge levels bi-monthly based on the two-month average price of Singapore kerosene jet fuel,” the airline said.
