Australia regulator reauthorises Qantas and Jetstar brand cooperation

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has granted re-authorisation for Qantas Airways and Australian and New Zealand-based Jetstar Airways to continue working with Singapore-based Jetstar Asia and Jetstar Japan on flight scheduling, sales and marketing and pricing for another five years. Read More » The re-authorisation also allows Jetstar Japan to work with one of its shareholders, Japan Airlines, on passenger and cargo services within Asia. “The conduct permitted under this authorisation is likely to result in little, if any, lessening of competition, particularly given Qantas and Jetstar offer complementary services and face competition from a number of other airlines in the region,” ACCC commissioner, Anna Brakey, said. The ACCC authorised coordination between the parties in 2013 and 2018.
