Hong Kong airport’s average daily passengers climb to 50% of pre-COVID-19 levels

Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) processed 2.8 million passengers through its terminals in March, up 29.6% from the 2.2 million air travellers that passed through HKIA in February, Airport Authority Hong King (AAHK) reports. Read More » The March results were well above the 94,000 passengers processed at HKIA a year earlier. Traffic to and from Southeast Asia, China and Japan recorded the largest increases at the airport’s terminals and overall growth trends are continuing into April, AAHK said. “Average daily passenger traffic has shown a sustained increase for the first three weeks of April,” AAHK said. HKIA is handling approximately 100,000 travellers a day, reaching 50% of pre-pandemic levels, the airport operator said.
