Capital A targets 205 aircraft in service by mid-year

AirAsia airlines in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand are planning to operate 205 aircraft across their networks by the third quarter of 2023, up from 157 aircraft - 142 flying and 15 spares - this past March, Capital A executive chair, Kamarudin bin Meranun, and CEO, Tony Fernandes, said in the company's annual report. We are confident it will continue throughout the year,” Kamarudin and Fernandes said. “Together with a general capacity shortage in the market, we expect to enjoy very healthy load factors and increasingly higher and more rational fares. All else being equal, this should lead to Capital A building on our fourth quarter performance in 2022 to end 2023 in a much better position.” The annual report said Capital A hoped to launch the inaugural flight of its latest LCC, AirAsia Cambodia, in the final three months of calendar 2023.
