Japan Airlines reports US$250 million annual profit

Japan Airlines (JAL) booked a net profit of 34.4 billion yen (US$250 million) for the 12 months to March 31 compared with a net loss of 177.6 billion yen in the previous year. Read More » Revenue climbed 101.5%, to 1.4 trillion yen, JAL said in a regulatory filing. “This fiscal year, air passenger demand recovered steadily as the shift towards balancing pandemic prevention and socio-economic activities gained momentum,” JAL said. The airline group forecasts net profit to grow by 59.8%, to 55 billion yen, in the current fiscal year and that revenue will increase by 20.5% to 1.7 trillion yen. “JAL Group has overcome the unprecedented situation of a sharp and significant decline in demand and is firmly in place to fully capture recovering demand,” it said.
The oneworld alliance member will introduce three 767-300ER freighter aircraft to its network by March 31, 2024, the first time JAL will operate freighter aircraft in 13 years.
