AirAsia chooses Fuzhou as China gateway for Southeast Asia network

AirAsia has signed a cooperation framework with the Fuzhou local government to establish the China east coast city as a “gateway hub” for travel to Southeast Asia. Read More » “We hope this cooperation can build an air bridge between Fuzhou and Southeast Asia,” AirAsia Group chief commercial officer, Karen Chan, said. “We believe travellers in Fuzhou will soon be able to connect to hub airports in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines from their doorstep using AirAsia’s services to more than 130 destinations.” AirAsia said the 205 flights a week it operates to China is 63% of its pre-COVID-19 flying to the country. By July, the LCC forecasts it will have returned to 100% of pre-COVID flight frequency to the Mainland.
