Malaysia Airports returns to profit in latest quarter

Malaysia Airports Holdings booked a net profit of 58.2 million ringgit (US$13 million) for the three months to March 31 compared with a net loss of 104.8 million ringgit in the same quarter in 2022. The airport company’s improved financial performance was the result of a significant increase in air passengers after global travel protocols were eased and airlines restarted more services. “Barring unforeseen circumstances and considering the easing of travel restrictions particularly in China, Japan and South Korea, it is anticipated the 2023 year will recover to approximately 80%-90% of pre-pandemic levels,” Malaysia Airports said in its financial accounts.
