Batik Air Malaysia to extend Perth service to Auckland

Batik Air Malaysia said it would serve Auckland from August 24 with six flights a week to New Zealand's most populous city as part of a Kuala Lumpur-Perth-Auckland routing. Read More » The Lion Air Group carrier, formerly known as Malindo Air, currently had eight nonstop flights a week between Kuala Lumpur and Perth, as well as four flights a week on the Perth-Denpasar route, with 737 MAX 8 and 737-800 equipment. "We are delighted to finally expand our footprint to Auckland as part of our network growth aspiration as well as committing our promise to enable Perth as our next hub outside Kuala Lumpur," Batik Air group strategy director, Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy, said. Perth Airport acting CEO, Kate Holsgove, said: "There is already strong business and tourism travel between Perth and Kuala Lumpur and adding Auckland flights will further stimulate market demand."
