Singapore is a top global financial centre, a multicultural destination with an abundance of tourism and food experiences as well as being an important gateway to destinations in Southeast Asia, Southern India and Western Australia,” Air Canada executive vice president of revenue and network planning, Mark Galardo, said. Changi Airport Group executive vice president for air hub and cargo development, Lim Ching Kiat, said he was “thrilled to have Air Canada return to Singapore more than three decades after it previously served the country”. “The link to Canada is strategically significant for Changi as point-to-point travel between the two countries is showing a strong recovery,” he said. “Passenger traffic has surpassed 80% of pre-COVID-19 levels in the first quarter of 2023.”
