Sarawak government to take over MASWings from Malaysia Aviation Group

The government of Malaysian state, Sarawak, has reached an in-principle agreement with Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) to take over the company’s regional carrier, MASWings, Sarawak premier, Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, said. Read More » MASWings operates a turboprop network in East Malaysia’s Sabah and Sarawak states. It is a 100% subsidiary of MAG that its prospective owner intends to rebrand as a boutique airline. “We are now negotiating the details. We have to do our due diligence,” Abang Johari said, and added he is keen for MASWings to expand to cities such as Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. Recently, the Sarawak government announced it wanted to establish a government-owned carrier that will offer travellers lower airfares.
