IndiGo orders 500 A320 family aircraft

On the first day of the Paris Air Show, India-headquartered IndiGo announced it will acquire 500 A320 family airplanes, the biggest single aircraft purchase agreement in the history of commercial aviation. Read More » The number of A320s and A321s and the choice of engine will be announced later, the LCC said. The order is in addition to IndiGo’s existing deals with Airbus for 480 A320s and A321s. “It is difficult to overstate the significance of IndiGo’s new and historic order for 500 Airbus A320 Family aircraft,” IndiGo CEO, Pieter Elbers, said. “With an order book now of almost 1,000 aircraft well into the next decade, IndiGo will be able to fulfil its mission to continue to boost economic growth, social cohesion and mobility in India.” Airbus chief commercial officer and head of international, Christian Scherer said “we cherish our long-standing relationship with IndiGo and are proud of our success together”.
