Malaysia Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) executive chair, Datuk Seri Hj. Saripuddin Hj. Kasim, said data for the first quarter of 2023 recorded a “remarkable surge” in passenger traffic and revealed a “compelling picture of the resilience inherent” in the country's aviation industry. Read More » The MAVCOM Waypoint report said Malaysia air passenger traffic grew by 123.6%, to 19.4 million in the March quarter against the same months in 2022. The figure was 73% of passenger traffic recorded in pre-COVID January to March 2019. “This remarkable performance not only demonstrates our ability to rebound, it also provides a solid foundation for continued growth in the sector throughout 2023,” Saripuddin said. MAVCOM maintains its forecast of 74.6 million to 80.8 million air travellers for the year.
