Overview

It’s been a fantastic week for aviation in Australia and New Zealand as Qantas Airways and Air New Zealand reported record profits for the full-year ended June 30, pleasing shareholders and paving the way for expansion. In Tokyo, All Nippon Airways (ANA) was happy to receive its 50th B787, saying the Dreamliner produced unprecedented savings for the carrier. In China, passenger numbers grew 11% in the first half of this year and flight delays decreased. In Belgium, a new long-haul low-cost carrier is being formed to go head-to-head with the Lufthansa Group on routes to Asia, particularly Mainland China.
