Orient Aviation’s Week in the Asia-Pacific

By Dominic Lalk

This week, Asia-Pacific aviation was dominated by orders and announcements from the 11th Airshow China in Zhuhai. Arguably the biggest news was Boeing’s confirmation that it would open a B737 completion and delivery centre in Zhoushan, eastern China. At China Eastern Airlines, it was revealed that the Shanghai-headquartered carrier would be the launch customer for COMAC’s C919 jet aircraft, China’s (delayed) response to Airbus’ and Boeing’s single-aisle series. In Dubai, Emirates Airline phased out its A330s and A340s and in Jakarta, Garuda Indonesia reported it had narrowed its third quarter loss.
