Orient Aviation’s Week in the Asia-Pacific

By Dominic Lalk

So far, it has been a good week for Mainland carriers. Collectively, state-controlled Air China and China Southern Airlines earned net profits that reflected significant year-on-year growth and robust outbound tourism.

In Australia, Qantas Airways performed its maiden Perth-Heathrow nonstop flight and in Taiwan, China Airlines launched its inaugural service from Taoyuan to Ontario, California.

Elsewhere this week, Singapore Airlines took delivery of the world’s first B787-10, All Nippon Airways ordered two B777Fs and signed a partnership agreement with Alitalia, Fiji Airways reported a record annual profit and VietJet Air announced plans for a dedicated freighter fleet.
