SriLankan Airlines denies retirement scheme created “brain drain” at the flag carrier

Read More » The airline said it had not operated a voluntary redundancy scheme (VRS) in the past two years. “The airline, like many other local organisations across industries, is facing a talent drain in the wake of the economic crisis. This is not in any way linked to a VRS,” SriLankan said. “SriLankan Airlines has created a unified workforce that has made many sacrifices and contributions to ensure seamless operations. The airline has adopted measures to retain skilled employees in all areas of the organisation and provided the necessary training and tools to cover any temporary shortfall in human resources.” Recently, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) said “we urge the government and all industry stakeholders to collaborate on developing an aviation blueprint to strengthen the aviation industry’s competitiveness and bring greater prosperity to Sri Lanka”. IATA regional vice president Asia-Pacific, Philip Goh, said: “IATA stands ready to support Sri Lanka with our expertise and sharing of industry best practices.” Goh was speaking at Aviation Day Sri Lanka organised by IATA and the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL).
