Fiji Airways receives new A350-900, schedules it for Fiji-Hong Kong route

Read More » The Airbus wide-body, registration DQ-FAM and named Island of Beqa, landed at the Nadi hub of Fiji Airways just before 1400 local time on August 15 and was met with a water cannon salute and a welcome ceremony before invited guests. “The Island of Beqa is brand new, having been put into storage immediately after manufacturing. We were able to negotiate a lucrative deal to acquire it,” Fiji Airways CEO, Andre Viljoen, said. “As the national airline we recognise our role is not only to be the bridge to and from the world, but to support the growth of tourism. One of the ways we can do this is by introducing destinations with potential for high tourism opportunities.” The A350-900, configured with 33 business and 301 economy seats, is scheduled to enter commercial service to Hong Kong on August 17.
