Air Niugini announces A220s will replace Fokker fleet

Air Niugini (ANG) has selected the A220 family aircraft to renew its fleet as its Fokker aircraft are phased out of operations, Papua New Guinea’s Minister for State Enterprises, William Duma, said in Port Moresby earlier this week. Read More » The airline has put pen to paper for 11 A220s with deliveries to commence in 2025. “It’s a momentous day in Air Niugini’s history. This is the first time ANG has purchased brand new regional jets,” Air Niugini acting CEO, Gary Seddon, said. “We are moving from analogue to digital. The Fokker jets have done their part for 25 years. It’s time to replace them with a game changer aircraft.” Air Niugini has seven Fokker 100s and six Fokker 70s in its fleet. The flag carrier also has ordered two 787s.
